Being in God Means Being Different

Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.  Yesterday I was in worship and God gave me this vision of me stepping into this block of space that was separate from everything else around me.  I wasn’t sure what it meant but as I spent more time with God, He revealed to me that as people of God we are not supposed to let the things of this world consume us or cause us to forget the one, true, and only living God that we serve.  Lately, the things that have occurred in the United States have been heavy on my heart, to be honest, causing fear and anxiety at times.  In those times that fear and anxiety try to creep in I seek what God wants me to know, or better yet what He wants to remind me of.

Yes I let out my emotions of fear and anxiety to Him, but then I ask, Lord what do you want me to know or learn from this?”  God is amazing, because in that moment of seeking Him, He gives me peace to know that He would not harm me.  That my obedience and submission to Him keeps me protected even from the weapons that are formed against me.  That He walks with me and directs me.  He clearly showed me that as long as I put Him first and seek Him He will direct my path, He will keep my children, husband, family, health, home, and finances protected.  No recession formed against me shall prosper.  No mass shootings formed against me shall prosper.  No divorce or separation formed against me shall prosper.  No thyroid or hormone imbalance formed against me shall prosper.  No obesity formed against me shall prosper.  No poverty formed against me shall prosper.  No brokenness formed against me shall prosper.  No demon in hell formed against me shall prosper.

Deuteronomy 28: 1-14  “Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. 2 And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God:

3 “Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the country.

4 “Blessed shall be the [a]fruit of your body, the produce of your ground and the increase of your herds, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flocks.

5 “Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl.

6 “Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out.

7 “The Lord will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before your face; they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways.

8 “The Lord will command the blessing on you in your storehouses and in all to which you set your hand, and He will bless you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you.

9 “The Lord will establish you as a holy people to Himself, just as He has sworn to you, if you keep the commandments of the Lord your God and walk in His ways. 10 Then all peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the Lord, and they shall be afraid of you. 11 And the Lord will grant you plenty of goods, in the fruit of your body, in the increase of your livestock, and in the produce of your ground, in the land of which the Lord [b]swore to your fathers to give you. 12 The Lord will open to you His good [c]treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow. 13 And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you [d]heed the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them. 14 So you shall not turn aside from any of the words which I command you this day, to the right or the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

Walking in and with God makes us different than what the world thinks we should do, say, walk, think or operate.  1 Peter 2:9  But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.  I want to point out this part of this scripture Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; what is the darkness this scripture is talking about?  What is the marvelous light this scripture is talking about?

The darkness is operating under satan’s control, the marvelous light is operating under God’s love, will and obedience.  Acts 26:18 To open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’

I’m getting to my point…Ephesians 2:1-3 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, 3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.

God’s people do not belong to this world.  God’s original intention for us was destroyed by our weakness to sin, to giving into sin.  But God sacrificed His only Son so that we could no longer be a slave to sin, to the prince of the air, or to the demonic forces operating on this earth.  We have so much authority and power through the blood of Jesus Christ over satan and every attack and temptation that he throws our way.  At God’s appointed time, this old evil weary world will no longer be, and God’s people will be in a place of newness, glory, no more pain, no more sorrow.  But, in the meantime, God allows us to experience peace, joy, and have power while living this gift of life.  He has a purpose for each and every one of us.

Take time today and every day to ask God what He wants you to do, how can you can bring more disciples to Jesus Christ so that we can increase the Kingdom of God.  Do not be of this world!  Once you invite the Holy Spirit into your life, the things of this world will look different, it will no longer have your desire.  You will be different!  Enjoy the gift of life God has given you!  Amen.
