I’ll Wait on You

I’ll Wait on You

Isaiah 40:31 – But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Let’s break down this scripture:

Isaiah 40:31(a) But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength – growing up not everyone is taught how to truly deal with everyday life by pulling from God first in the day.  In Ephesians 6:11 it states “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the [b]wiles of the devil.”  In this scripture it states to guard ourselves with the Word of God so that we can handle the attacks from the enemy.  Do you think that God meant to do this randomly?  Do we think that the enemy attacks us randomly?  No, the enemy attacks daily.  Attacks from the enemy are not just physical or something that we can see.  Sometimes it is emotional, mental, through other people, and completely caught off guard.  Also, there are some attacks from the enemy that last longer than a day.  For example, standing with God for the restoration of your prodigal husband or prodigal child.  Those prayers are not answered in one day, it takes time and occurs in God’s appointed time.  As we wait for God to deliver us from the enemy or to answer our prayers, we have to gain strength from God to endure everything the enemy will throw at us to throw us off focus.

The definition of strength according to Dictionary.com is “the quality or state of being strong; bodily or muscular power; mental power, force, or vigor.”  Mental power is what stood out to me, do you think when God mentions strength that He means to be physically strong?  No!  Now being physically strong is important, but it does not help when we must have strength to wait on God.  We require mental and spiritual strength to wait upon God.  When we go to God in prayer and give Him every emotion, hurt, pain, fear, etc. that we are feeling in that moment, He takes those burdens from us and renews our strength.  When we go to just talk to God and are vulnerable about our feelings, thoughts, and emotions, He takes those burdens from us and renews our strength.  When we go to God through reading His Word we are renewing our mind with the promises He gave us.  The Bible is literally the breath of God’s Words speaking to us, His words are never void.  Isaiah 55:11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me [a]void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.  So, let us learn to begin every waking day by talking to God, reading His Word, and praising Him for what He has done and what He has promised us He will do.  Let’s teach our children so that future generations will know that they must put God first in order to have strength to survive this gift of life in this evil world.

Isaiah 40:31(b) they shall mount up with wings as eagles –  There is a peace that comes when we focus on God during our trials and tribulations.  Restoration of a soul back to God is not an easy process.  The enemy does not want to let go of whom he has had a hold of for so long.  It’s not a fight between God and the enemy, but instead a fight between the enemy and that soul.  When we are standing for the restoration of a prodigal, whether spouse or child, we must desire the peace of God that comes over us when things “seem” hopeless.  The enemy will throw a loophole into the situation so that we focus on the physical occurrences instead of what God did and promised us.  This is a spiritual fight not a physical fight.  Leaning into God allows us to stand strong or mount up with wings as eagles, when the spiritual fight gets intense.  It allows us to look the enemy in the eye and not be moved.  It allows the enemy to say and do things to us to “try” and tear us down and not be afraid.  It allows us to stand strong amid trials and tribulations.  It’s God carrying us through the storm so that we do not have to worrying about steering the boat.

Isaiah 40:31(c,d) they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint – our journey with Jesus Christ is a daily walk, it does not end when we receive what we asked for.  When first following Jesus Christ, you feel like you are crawling through a storm in the ocean because you are letting go of everything you thought you knew, every way of life you thought was right, and He is cleansing you of every sin you committed; you’re walking into a new way of life.  After crawling you learn to walk, through walking you learn to hold God’s hands as you take every step.  You start to see Him in everything you do, everything you say, and everyone you encounter.  After walking you start to run, you start to run with no fear because He is running with you.  Running is not an easy task, it takes endurance and strength.  If you’re running with God, you will not be weak.

Waiting on God is a life journey, it never ends.  Choose to Wait on God, the process is not easy, but it is worth it!
